Nawanshahr, November 14 (Harinder Singh) Krishi Vigyan Kendra Langroya, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, organized a district-level training camp on paddy stubble management on November 14, in which more than 200 farmers participated. In this camp, especially the Chief Agricultural Officer of the district, Dr. Rakesh Sharma, Project Director, Atma, Dr. Kanwaldeep Singh Sangha, Dr. Amin Bhatt (Soil Scientist) and Dr. Ramandeep Kaur (Crop Scientist) from Kandi Research Center, Ballowal, Saunkhari, participated and shared valuable information with the farmers. During the district-level training camp, Dr. Pradeep Kumar, Deputy Director (Training), shed light on the harmful effects of burning crop residues and emphasized on the proper management of paddy residues through the use of agricultural machinery. He appealed to adopt new technologies recommended by PAU in agriculture as well as allied sectors. Dr. Jaswinder Kumar, Assistant Professor (Crop Science) appreciated the farmers of the district for their immense contribution in the campaign against burning of stubble. He shared technical information on various methods of sowing wheat by mixing paddy stubble in the field and the features and precautions of using Happy Seeder, Super Seeder, Smart Seeder and Surface Seeder machines. Dr. Aarti Verma, Assistant Professor (Vegetable Science) discussed about home vegetable gardening. He laid special emphasis on the cultivation of chemical-free, winter vegetables under natural farming. Dr. Rajinder Kaur, Assistant Professor (Home Science) shed light on the activities being done towards agriculture and self-employment at PAU – Krishi Vigyan Kendra. Mrs. Renu Bala, Demonstrator (Home Science) thanked all the attendees for making this program a success.
