Nawanshahr 25th March (Harinder Singh) Baba Balraj Punjab University Constituent College, Balachaur has organized a seven day NSS camp at Gurudwara Singh Sabha of their adopted village Mandiani (Balachaur )on the culmination day, Red Cross Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA), Nawanshahr was special invitee. The event was chaired by Kashmir Kaur Sarpanch,While addressing the assemblage, Chaman Singh (Project Director) said that Punjab has great history of valiant warriors and gurus. Bhagat Singh, Kartar Singh Sarabha and others have fought for our freedom. Our ten Guru Ravidass ji , Kabir ji and others- all have written about ill effects of the prevalent drugs in their times. They have never supported drugs in any reference. This is our failure that we could not connect our youth to their ideologies. He shared his views on the reasons of using drugs, types of drugs. He also shared his knowledge on how to keep away from this evil. He also informed with data on how Punjab and centre Government are working against this menace. He also answered the queries of the audience to their satisfaction. He said that It will take a lot of strategies and initiatives to address this issue. Our awareness is the strongest weapon against drugs.Dr. Harinath ,Smt.Kamaljeet Kaur counselor also expressed their views during the seminar. NSS volunteers also played a nukkad natak on drug awareness. Kamaljeet Kaur (counselor, IRCA), Sukhvir Singh (Ex-Sarpanch), Bhagat Ram (Ex-Sarpanch), Kashmir Kaur (Anagnwarih Worker), Jaswinder Kaur (Panch), Chaman Lal (Panch), Kulwinder Singh (Panch), Buta Singh (Panch), Kamaljeet Kaur (Panch), college staff madam Sakshi, Anjali and other support staff, NSS volunteers and villagers were present on the occasion. All have put their efforts to make the program successful.
